I'm a gamer, been one all my life...but have only been officially playing RPGs now for 30yrs, started at age 10. Before this we'd just make up our own games. I tried computer games and I like Doom and Diablo, but there's nothing like getting together with like minded folk and playing Pen & Paper RPGs.
I typically play Dungeons and Dragons, normally the current flavor, which now is 4th ed. But, I've played edition from basic to AD&D, 2nd, then 3rd (briefly), 3.5 then Pathfinder and now 4th. I typically give the rules as written a shot, for a year or so, before house rules begin creeping in...which is where I am now with 4e.
I'm currently working on a 4E compatible game system, I'm calling Open Gateway, another with a Post-Apoc Fantasy World setting, look for these on KickStarter soon. This world has been home to the last five Campaign that I've run.
I enjoy being a player, but I am nearly always the GM when I play, and I typically like it this way as, 30yrs of GM'ing can make me a tough player to deal with, but I try to let the GM run things, I point out rule discrencies, but am fine when thye rule one way or another...I prefer some realism in my fantasy.
