  • About

I am a Master's Candidate at Metropolitan State University, St. Paul MN.  I study the life and philosophy of John Locke to determine the origins of his ideas, lest they stem from corrupt or illegitimate origins.

I've been a tabletop gamer for 30 years, starting as a child with Basic D&D and I remain involved despite all that's gone on over that generation of time.  My taste is for D&D at was played then: exploration of the unknown, avoiding unnecessary dangers and running off with as much treasure as could be had- moving on to an endgame of lordship and planar concerns.  I am a regular at The RPG Site and at RPG Net, and I sometimes show up at other TRPG fora out there.

I hate "storytelling" with the fury of a thousand suns.  When I want a story, either I read one or (increasingly) I write one. ("Corinth's Consolidated Chronicles" is my serial fiction blog.)  I play RPGs to immerse myself into a secondary world, live a secondary life, treat it with the seriously I do reality and Get Shit Done.  Messing things up because you think it'd be funny, dramatic, or anything other than easier to Get Shit Done means that You Are Doing It Wrong and I don't want you around.

I prefer to run Open Table campaigns.  I also prefer to run West Marches settings, often with multiple Mega-Dungeons around.  Otherwise, I go with a firm focus upon executing missions (e.g. Shadowrun, Spycraft).  Factional conflict is commonplace, as is strong active-player support.  (If you're waiting for me to railroad you into a plot, you're Doing It Wrong; go elsewhere.)
